A new update to the Dot View app has made the innovative HTC One (M8) Dot View case even smarter with a range of new features.
Already able to show users the time, the weather and display notifications for texts, emails and calls at a glance, the update adds flexible settings and the option for users to create their own dot-matrix wallpapers via the app.
The ‘redial’ function is now activated with a simple upwards swipe, allowing swift connection to the three most recent calls, and left/right swipes navigate smoothly through email, text, voicemail and call notifications. Settings can also be tailored to individual preference, allowing you to decide whether to display the last three calls or opt to ‘skip security’ completely for quick access. With 18 default themes and the option to select a photo from your gallery or camera, you can create your own Dot View wallpaper to reflect your personal style.
The Dot View case has a hard back to protect the HTC One (M8) with a rubber flip front that is semi-transparent due to hundreds of tiny permeations. Using magnets built into the case, the M8 is able to recognise when the case is attached and use its own screen to project light through the holes, displaying both still and animated notifications. As well as offering a cool retro-style, this innovative design is intended to save the user time opening the case, but also conserve battery as the M8’s screen only lights up the individual dots required for the notification rather than the whole screen.
