It’s been a big week for Linux game news due to GDC, with the GOG.com and CryEngine on Linux news leading the way as developer’s from around the world congregate in San Francisco to talk about the future of making games. Last night Epic Games released information for the next version of their Unreal Engine, including the addition of Linux support.
Unreal Engine 4 will not only support Linux for playing games, Epic are also working on supporting development on Linux according to a twitter conversation with Gaming on Linux:
@gamingonlinux @gbfan Yes, the work started to support native development under Linux.

The price structure for UE4 involves a subscription and sharing of royalties, which not all game developers have been pleased with:
UE4 subscription is rad, but 5% gross, no scripting language, and no asset store-alike still keep it off the table for devs like us.

Are you a game developer? What do you think of this news regarding UE4 on Linux?
