I need your help. I’m running this year’s Boston Marathon on behalf of the One Fund Boston, a 501(c)(3) charity founded in the aftermath of the tragic Boston Marathon Bombings of 2013.
The One Fund raises money to support those who were affected. Many lost limbs and livelihoods, some lost their lives. Families were torn apart on April 15th 2013. All of these people deserve our support. Like many of you, I have friends who were there that day, who witnessed the horror, as well as the acts of kindness of strangers who came together in the aftermath to aid those impacted. I cannot convey how emotional it was for me to learn that one friend in particular, who had been on the finish line, was unhurt and would be ok. That meant the world to me. But many others were not so fortunate with news that day.
In the aftermath, I decided that I would run in 2014. To show the world that this city is never beaten by callous acts of terrorism, and to support the victims of last year’s tragedy. Like many of you, running is a strong part of my life. The very notion that evil could turn such a joyous, harmless, fun sport into a scene of utter mayhem is almost unthinkable… but sadly now only almost unthinkable. This year’s Boston Marathon will be bigger, better, and stronger than ever before. We will run together as one town, one City, one Boston. And the thoughts of many beyond our city will be with us on that day.
I need your help. Please consider making a donation to my One Fund Boston fundraiser. It would mean the world to me, and you would be helping such a wonderful cause. The One Fund Boston has so far raised over $60 Million, and with your generous support, we can raise much more. My individual fundraising goal is $20,000. I am asking you to make a *tax deductible* donation to support that goal. Typical amounts vary from $50 to $500 (with the average amount being $139 for the One Fund Boston team overall), but it’s up to you to decide how you can support us.
I can’t do this without you. Please help me stay #BostonStrong by making a donation today.
