Sony are ‘usually’ quite reliable with their schedules regarding updates to their devices, so it’s safe to say we’re getting quietly excited about seeing a new flock of ICS-infested Android devices. The Android 4.0 upgrade will however have to be manually installed on to your Sony device, instead of the automatic update which tends to happen.
This list of 2011 Sony handsets will be the first to receive the update starting mid-April:
- Xperia Arc S
- Xperia Neo V
- Xperia Ray
This second list of handsets can expect to see the update readily available for the devices late May/early June:
- Xperia Arc
- Xperia Play
- Xperia Neo
- Xperia Mini
- Xperia Mini Pro
- Xperia Pro
- Xperia Active
- SE Live with Walkman
For those who have invested, or are planning in investing in a Sony Xperia S, will have to wait considerably longer for their slice of the Ice Cream Sandwich update; with the upgrade expect in July. What makes this really exciting, is that users will have the choice on whether they want to upgrade their device or not, and instead can choose to stick with their Gingerbread OS instead.
