When putting on an international festival to promote digital and creative cultures, you don’t really want to compromise on a nice site. Thankfully the folks at Namur, Belgium’s KIKK association can boast a stunningly elegant online home for this year’s event.

Attendees can browse workshop listings, conference schedules and sample exhibition previews ahead of arrival in November. Perhaps more immediately engaging though is the site’s softer styling approach and subtle use of UI effects to give page objects light and depth.

Local agency Dogstudio, invited every year to reinvent the festival’s branding based on its annual theme, took direct inspiration to arrive at the site’s origami-like aesthetic.

From a dynamic Fold/Unfold header element, the motif appears throughout and it works hard to tie the whole experience together with its consistency and artistic grace. “KIKK Festival’s 2015 website was born from the very theme of this fifth edition of our beloved international festival,” explains Henry Daubrez, co-owner and creative director at Dogstudio. “In this Fold/Unfol universe, we tried to communicate how folding elements can actually bring a whole extra dimension to them and provide a different point of view. The whole website is actually about having this extra angle thanks to those moving gradients, 3D parallaxes, dynamic drop shadows and 3D listings.”
