Popular Gentoo derivative Sabayon Linux has just announced the immediate availability of Sabayon 8, the next iteration of the “out of the box” distro that has been going since 2005.
On the announcement blog, lead developer Fabio Erculiani explained some of the changes made from Sabayon 7:
“During this cycle, we spent a lot of time optimizing critical packages at compiler level, ensuring unprecedented performances, tuning system responsivity under load and backporting power management patches.”
The release includes the latest versions of the Linux Kernel, GNOME, and KDE, as well as the latest editions of packages such as LibreOffice and even XBMC.
“Letting bleeding edge and reliability to coexist is the most outstanding challenge our users, our team, is faced [sic] every day.” continued Fabio, extolling the virtues of Sabayon.
