Quickly import photos from your iPhone to your Mac

It’s amazing just how many Mac users have never heard of Image Capture. If you are one of those people, fear not, we are about to introduce you to its stand-out features. Image Capture is a great little app that can be used to quickly import photos from any device.

It’s most useful for liberating pictures from an iPad or iPhone without having to use iPhoto. It immediately detects connected devices, offers up a scalable preview and then lets you import and delete images. The great thing about Image Capture is that it only serves this single purpose and as a result is a very slimline, super-fast app. It will load in no time and do its job without getting under your feet.

1: Super select

Connect a device and load the app. Select the images you wish to import. Hold Shift to select multiples, or use the Apple key to select alternates.

2: Place it

At the bottom of the interface you can choose where to place your images. If the location isn’t on the list use the Other option to see a standard saving screen.

3: Hit the button

All that remains is to hit the Import button. Be careful not to hit the highlighted Import All option as this could keep you busy for a while!

4: Get rid

You can use a similar procedure to delete images. Instead of hitting Import, hit the Delete key and they will be removed from your device.
