Android uses a cache to store commonly used files from the Sdcard, if you have root access then its possible to increase this cache size to gain a performance boost. Speeding up your Sdcard can be beneficial for making apps load quicker.

Download the App
Open up the Android Market and search for ‘SD-Booster’. There are a few apps available, but in this example we will use the free one from Daniel Mehrmann. Once its installed , click on ‘open’ to run the app.

Set Cache Size
You will see the current cache size displayed, if you have a custom ROM installed its likely this will already be higher. A good value is 1024kb or 2048kb. Click on ‘Apply’ and you will be asked to allow superuser privileges ,grant them.

Test Out Speed
Test out the setting by opening all your favorite apps and taking some photos/video. You can also download a Sdcard speed tester from the Market. If you are 100% sure everything is running ok then you could try increasing the cache again.
