The state of UK computing in schools has not been great for a while know, specifically in England. This is soon to improve though, with new government outlines to get kids into the computing from early on. One of the change coming soon is the introduction of a proper computing GCSE next year by OCR. Those wanting to see what kind of material will be on it can sign for the free Massively Open Online Course (MOOC).
The MOOC version is currently host to 80 videos, with more to come. It’s a resource for both teachers and students involved in the OCR course, and can be used to learn everything you need to sit the new GCSE. The course is still somewhat under development, and will be ready by the time the GCSE comes into affect.
As the Raspberry Pi foundation are all about getting kids to code, Eben Upton stars in the introduction video, urging young people and adults alike to get involved. You can sign up for the course now on the MOOC’s website.
