Just as Motorola released core features for the original Moto X via the Play Store, they have made new hand-waving gestures and notification features available to download as apps.
Releasing the features as individual apps allows Motorola to update functionality without waiting for a full OTA rollout.
The new apps are as follows:
Moto Actions – Wave your hand over your phone to silence calls or snooze alarms. Or, open the camera with just two quick twists of your wrist.
Moto Display – View essential information without waking your phone. View the time, date, battery levels and important notifications from your lock screen.
Motorola Sensor Services – A firmware update.
Moto – Seemingly a help guide for using the other apps.
The downside all of these apps are only compatible with the Moto X(2014), not the original device, suggesting Motorola are going to segregate functionality between models.
The Moto X (2014) is expected to go on sale at the end of the month.
