Keeping tabs on notifications and other alerts on your phone usually means getting the device out of your pocket. However, if you’re in a scenario where your attention is wholly on your computer’s display, you might miss something important.

Mirroring your Android device with your computer is a good solution and if for some reason you haven’t rooted your device, you can employ Vysor (a Google Chrome extension available from that’s compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux computers.

With Chrome installed on your desktop, grab the extension and connect your Android device using a USB cable, remembering to enable USB Debugging in Settings> Developer Options.

Use the Chrome App Launcher to open Vysor, click Find Devices and select your Android device. You can then easily control your phone or tablet using your keyboard and mouse; the response is fast thanks to the USB cable.
