Luckily, Apple has thought of this and provides a very simple way not only to find out where the original file is kept but also to give you access to it. The process is so simple that we can fit it into this two- step tutorial. So the next time you want to get the original version of an image in your iPhoto library, you can gain access in less than 30 seconds. You can use this technique to find batches of images too, for specialised, specific backups.
Step 1: Menu options
Go to the menu at the top of the iPhoto interface and click File and then ‘Reveal in Finder’. You then have the option to pick the original file or the modified file (this is for pictures you’ve added effects to).
Step 2: Watch it
You should now see a Finder window spring to life and the file in question become selected. You can then see the directory it has come from. You can now do what you like with the file in question.
