LinuxCon North America and CloudOpen started today, and the opening day keynotes have already been making some announcements. To begin with, as it is the first CloudOpen, the Linux Foundation in partnership with IDC are releasing new data about user preferences for the cloud. This is based on a huge survey conducted by IDC, and some of the results can be seen on the infographic below.

There’s also been news of a new initiative called the Code Aurora Forum, which has been set up to increase collaboration of mobile and embedded Linux development efforts to accelerate code contributions to the Linux Kernel. Otherwise the Linux Yocto Project is announcing a new compliance program, the details of which can be found on the Linux Foundation website.
We’ll be covering more news coming out of Linux Con, but for the moment you can always check out the event schedule for an idea of what’s going on.
