The app does all the basic colour correction that you would expect, but takes it to the next level with an astounding level of user interaction. Rather than simply using sliders to adjust settings, you use your finger on the image itself to change things like the Contrast and Exposure.
However, what’s even better is the fact that changes you make to your photos are non-destructive. This means that if you completely change the look of your snap and decide you want to undo the last three things you did, you can. You can always revert right back to the original snap with just a couple of taps, and a small button in the menubar offers the chance to compare the original and the edited photo instantly.
Step 1: Crop and straighten
Firstly, tap the Crop button in the bottom-left. A wheel will appear at the bottom that you can drag to alter the image’s angle. You can resize by dragging the corners.
Step 2: Standards
If you want to print the image out, you can tap the cog in the bottom-right and choose from the list of most- commonly used preset sizes and dimensions.
Step 3: Multi-touch
Tap on the Exposure button. You can tap and hold to bring up these sliders. Contrast is controlled with horizontal swipes and Brightness with vertical ones.
Step 4: Sliders
Alternatively, you can use the sliders to alter the settings. Dragging the outer blocks will alter Exposure, and the inner options control Contrast and Brightness.
Step 5: Zooming
If you decide you want a much closer crop, you can do that using two fingers. Tap the Crop button, then pinch on the screen to zoom. Let go to crop.
Step 6: Undo all
The beauty of iPhoto is that it’s non-destructive. Even weeks later, you can tap the cog in the lower-right corner and simply restore the image to its original state.
