The iPad mini with Retina display has been benchmarked by early adopters of the new tablet, with impressive results. The test showed that the Retina mini is running the same 1.3GHz A7 chip as the iPhone 5s, and the two achieved very similar results. The new mini scored 2490 in the multi-core test, which is almost identical to the iPhone 5s’ 2523.
The iPad Air produced slightly higher results of 2658 thanks to its A7 processor clocked a little higher at 1.4GHz, but in real-world use the two are unlikely to show any real difference. It’s also worth noting that the previous iPad mini produces results of a measly 493; the mini with Retina display is offering a performance boost of around five times.
The iPad mini with Retina display went on sale yesterday, and is available now from Apple’s online store.
