Display maker AU Optronics has now caught up with demand for first-generation iPad mini displays and is working on next-gen parts, according to a report from DigiTimes. The report is mainly focussed on the increasing yield for AU Optronics’ AH-VA wide-angle displays, used in the iPad mini, but a line at the end hints at the future of Apple’s pint-sized tablet.

According to DigiTimes, “Meanwhile, AUO [AU Optronics] is reportedly also working on panels for Apple’s next-generation iPad mini.”. It’s clear that information is scarce, here, and there are no details regarding the exact specifications of these displays, nor when we can expect to see them on a second-generation iPad mini. What we can guess, though, is that these displays will have a Retina resolution and that, according to KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, we’ll see them on the finished product in the third quarter of 2013.
