With the iPad Mini Event just a few hours away, rumours about the iPad 4 have already started hitting the web. While we wait for the smaller iPad to be announced, Twitter user Chronic, from Apple.Pro have published a shot that reportedly shows the iPad 4’s screen enclosure, which includes a larger space for the front-facing camera and a new, optically-bonded display.
The iPad currently features a 0.3 megapixel VGA-quality camera above the screen, and while it is perfectly useable for FaceTime calls, doing anything apart from this results in photos and videos that are extremely low-quality. The iPhone 5 now features a 1.2MP front-facing camera, which records at 720p, so an upgrade for the iPad isn’t too far-fetched.
We’ve included the blurrycam shot above; it’s not clear yet whether this is definitely the iPad 4, or whether it is simply the screen for the updated iPad 3, featuring a Lightning connector, that is expected to be announced alongside the Mini later today. Tune in to our Twitter feed from 10am PST/6pm GMT for full live coverage of Apple’s Event.
