With Jony Ive at the helm of Human Interface for both OS X and iOS, there’s bound to be a few changes to the way things look and feel once iOS 7 is released. The Verge Forums user brentcas has a released a handful of mockups detailing some improvements on the current iOS 6 lock screen.
The mockups include the introduction “Lockscreen Cards” – the closest iOS would perhaps ever get to widgets without implementing widget themselves – enabling the user to swipe between different ‘cards’ containing key information such as the weather, time and what’s playing in the music app.
brentcas also looked at the “app grabber” – the shortcut used to quickly access your iPhone’s camera from the lock screen – and provided a few ideas for how other apps could leverage it and implement it.
All in all, it’s a great set of ideas and ones that we’re hoping and praying Apple might draw some inspiration from. Far from being pie-in-the-sky dreams, these mockups are already Apple-like implementation and by no means impossible (the customised app grabber is already available as a jailbreak tweak), so there’s no reason why a certain Mr. Ive shouldn’t be taking notes.
