The final icon in the default Mac OS X set is here at last. For now at least, I’ll be taking a break from the system icons in OS X, and starting work on apps like iPhoto, iMovie, Numbers and Pages, but before I do that, I thought I’d finish off the set with a much-used app – TextEdit.

This one was much less fun to create than Game Center, but I’m really happy with the outcome. I wanted to maintain some of the colours on offer from the current icon, so the yellow and grey make their way to the new design. However, I’ve simplified things somewhat, removing the words from the sheet, adding a pen that bears a resemblance to that of the App Store icon, and giving it a coloured border.
You can get the icon below to complete the current system set, along with the others in the project so far. I’m off for a two-week break, so there won’t be any updates to the project until September, at which point I’ll start with the iLife suite. Enjoy the icons!
