The latest iOS 7 style Mac icon is here, and it’s another for the Microsoft Office suite. The icon uses a similar design to last week’s Microsoft Word icon, changing up the colours and adjusting the inside of the book slightly.
The biggest hurdle with these icons was the lettering for each one. In the end it was easiest to simply create a vector shape that was drawn by hand rather than use a typed letter and skew it to the right angle. The results are pretty good, although I don’t forsee myself using the saved shape ever again.
I’ve got a couple more icons for the Office suite still to finish up, and then I’ll move onto another reader suggestion – probably Aperture or Final Cut Pro.
