After a long break from icon design, I’m back with the first in the series of iLife icons – iPhoto. I actually started designing the camera portion of this icon before I went away, but I didn’t want to leave it as it was when it came to the finished icon. It felt a little plain, and didn’t really give a fair representation of what iPhoto was.
In the end I opted to go back to a similar design to that of the current icon. It’s still heavily influenced by iOS 7, but it should slot in nicely with the other icons in the project. Reusing the coloured flower from the Preview icon meant there was no ‘real’ photo in the background, and kept things clean, but I made sure it was covered enough by the camera that it shouldn’t get confusing when opening from the Dock.
I’ll likely start work on iMovie next, although now that I’m back from my break I think Trash needs another look. I’ve got an idea that might work, so I’ll give it a try and see how it comes out. Stay tuned!
As ever, all the icons in the project are below, and the iPhoto icon is under that. Grab Candybar, yadda yadda yadda.
