iOS 7 Mac icon project: iBooks

iBooks for Mac gets a new icon design based on the recently redesigned iOS version, and it's very snazzy (even if we say so ourselves)

icon comparison

iBooks has just been updated for iOS 7, so my natural reaction was to immediately redesign it for your Mac. Is that normal? I’m not sure. But what I do know is that you can now add another icon to your iOS 7-themed Dock.

The icon is actually quite similar to the one released as part of Mavericks, but the book in the centre of the icon is now much flatter, and the circle matches those used in the iTunes and App Store icons from earlier in the project. The colours have been taken directly from the iOS 7 icon, and the book was created using a customised vector shape.

I might start work on a Maps icon next week, just to complete the OS X set, before moving on to some of your requests. So far I’ve had people asking for iWeb, QuickTime, Stickies, Firefox, Chrome, Xcode and Creative Cloud. I’ve also had a request for a purple iTunes icon in the colours of the iTunes Store on iOS 7, so that might pop up too. If there are any more you specifically want to see, let me know, and I’ll be sure to get onto them eventually! I also need to make all the icons available through one single download; if you guys have a good idea for where/how to do this best, let me know in the comments.

For now, enjoy the icon.
