“At last!” I hear you cry. “He’s updated the bloody icon project!” Yes, it’s been a while, and things have taken an unfortunate turn for the busy, but I’ve finally got myself in gear and created an icon for GarageBand. This one is actually quite interesting – I started work on it yesterday, and this morning woke to the news that a leaked icon from a redesigned iOS 7 version of GarageBand had been found. I immediately scrapped the design I was working on and set to work on an icon that was inspired by the leak.
I’ve used a combination of the new iOS icon and the older Mac icon for this design. The shape I used for the guitar was based on the Mac icon at first, but I squared it off, removing the slight angle that is currently on the guitar. I used the white design with cutouts of basic shapes that are on the body of the iOS 7 icon and the rest is fairly obvious. I’m happy with the design – I think it does a great job of merging the two icons together.
There was a leaked iPhoto icon, too, so you can expect me to get to work on another, more accurate iPhoto icon in the next few days. If Apple release updates to its iLife iOS apps to look more iOS 7-like, I’ll finish off the set next week with an iMovie icon, too. Here’s hoping…
For now, you can grab the icon below, and use Candybar to apply the icon – here’s a tutorial if you’re not sure exactly how to do it. I’ll soon be gathering all the icons into a single place, so you can grab them all in one go, but I want to finish off iLife properly first.
