iLife Tutorial: Change the available fonts in iMovie

Customise your titles with any of the fonts on your Mac

iMovie can be a confusing application, not because it’s hard to use, but because some of the more advanced functions can be tucked away in unlikely places. Changing the fonts often requires using the font panel and then locating a desired font each and every time you create text for titles. It is possible to save yourself some time and change the stock fonts that appear in the list of nine every time you hit the Fonts button on the titles screen.
Luckily we’re here to tell you that this can be done very simply indeed, but you’ll need to load the fonts you want in the iMovie preferences first. Then, when you come to add your titles you can use the perfect font each and every time without having to search and select. You are still limited to the nine available in the dialogue box but it can be any nine that you have selected in the Preferences. So, spice up your work with cool fonts today…

1: Load it, font it
Load the Preferences by clicking on iMovie in the menu and then selecting Preferences. Now click on the Fonts tab at the top of the dialogue window that has just appeared.

2: Drop down, choose
Click on the drop-down arrow next to the font you wish to change to see a list of all the fonts loaded on your Mac. You can then pick the font you wish to add to the list in place of the one you selected before.
