Google I/O 2014: What to expect from Android TV

Android TV is Google's next attempt to take over your living room.

Android TV will be a set-top box and coincide with Google’s current TV offering, Chromecast. The design of the box is aimed to be a much sleeker affair than Google TV and will fit in well with other set top boxes on the market. To make the experience more immersive, Android TV will enable Google Play games to be streamed directly to the big screen; although we don’t know the types of games we’ll see just yet.

The biggest news of Android TV’s announcement is that not only will it be compatible with every HD TV released in 2015, it’ll also work with Google Cast. This means users will be able to ping content across to it in the same vein as Chromecast.

Android TV will launch later this year.
