Google I/O 2014: Samsung to announce Android Wear smartwatch

Samsung to announce follow-up to Galaxy Gear 2 at Google I/O.

It seems that Samsung aren’t quite done with the Android operating system yet, despite heavily investing in their own Tizen OS. It’s strongly rumoured that the Korean manufacturer will be announcing one of the first Android Wear smartwatches.

The design of the smartphone is said to be similar to the current Galaxy Gear range, which the company has been working on since last year. It’s also said that Samsung will utilise their own processor within the confines of the smartwatch, but that a second version of the smartwatch could also be announced running a Qualcomm processor.

Currently only Motorola and LG have been looking to use the Android Wear OS, so it’ll be interesting to see how Samsung adapt it.
