Five iPhone, iPad and Mac apps to buy on Black Friday

Black Friday isn't all about picking up cheap Macs, y'know. Here's our pick of the best apps to pick up for your iPhone, iPad and Mac in the Black Friday sales.

Maclegion - Main

With Apple’s own Black Friday deals a little on the disappointing side, we’ve taken to the App Stores to bring you some of the best deals on iPhone, iPad and OS X apps. Developers are slashing the prices of some of their best apps and, unlike hardware, they can’t sell out and you don’t have to end up in a scrum in a bricks and mortar store to get them. Need we persuade you anymore? Now, grab your device of choice and go forth to the best sale you’ll visit all day.

Quickoffice pro - icon
1. Quickoffice Pro – £0.69/$0.99 (was £10.49/$14.99)

We’re big fans of this MS Office equivalent for iOS. If you’re unfortunate enough to be in a situation where using iWork isn’t an option, this should be your plan B. This hugely powerful app is usually just that little bit too expensive, but now it’s a no brainer. Get it now and while you’re there, grab its HD brother for iPad (also on sale), you won’t regret it.

1Password icon

2. 1Password Pro – £6.99/$9.99 (was £10.49/$14.99)

Passwords are a pain at the best of times. 1Password makes it easy for you to create and store secure passwords without any issues, it’s an app that’s worth every penny outside of Black Friday, but this just happens to make things a little bit sweeter. If you’re forever sending yourself password reset emails, this app is for you.

Portal 2 - icon
3. Portal 2 on Steam – £3.74/$4.99 (was £14.99)

If there’s one game you should be playing during your creative downtime on your Mac, it’s this one. Building on the foundations of the award-winning Portal, Portal 2 is…well…it’s a lot of fun, alright? Grab it on Steam and be sure to check out the rest of their Black Friday deals while you’re at it.

Pixelmator icon

4. Pixelmator – £10.49/$14.99 (was £20.99/$29.99)

You may have noticed that Pixelmator has been featured more and more in iCreate over the last few issues – that’s because it’s the best alternative to Photoshop out there. Need we say more? Oh…we do? Okay! It’s powerful, effective, fully native and at a snip over £10, our favourite buy of Black Friday.

Bonus round – 5. MacLegion 2012 Holiday Bundle – $49.99

Since when did we not cheat in the last item of our Top 5s? It might be a little different to a regular cut-price sale item, but the MacLegion 2012 Holiday bundle is a force to be reckoned with. Your $50 gets you pro website creation tool Freeway Pro, music app Djay, guitar tutoring app Capo and our calendar app of choice Fantastical. There’s a whole bunch more, too. Great value doesn’t even come close.
