The latest rumours surrounding a budget iPhone from Apple point to it being named the iPhone 5C and a potential launch on 6 September.
Images of the shell and even supposedly fully formed versions of the budget iPhone have been spreading furiously in the last few weeks. The latest rumour with regards to its name comes from an alleged image of the new packaging for the device found on weiphone.com and brought into view by French site nowhereelse.fr.
Meanwhile Dutch site iphone5skopen.com claims to have another image of the plastic-bodied budget iPhone. It has the same white plastic casing we’ve been seeing from other early release versions and similar shaping and spacing for things like the speaker and Lightning cable socket.
Finally in the European iPhone 5C news roundup, iFun reported that a “credible and serious” source dated the launch of the next-generation iPhone as 6 September. However, trusted voice of Apple tracking reason Jim Dalrymple at The Loop (loopinsight.com) has given a conclusive and considered “nope” to this story, which to us is usually as good as hearing it directly from the lips of Tim Cook.
So, we may have a name for the budget iPhone finally, but still no clear date for a release. What do you think of the iPhone 5C? Drop us a line on Twitter, Facebook or file us a comment below.
