The successor to Asus’ revolutionary Padfone, a strange laptop, tablet and smartphone hybrid is scheduled for an official announcement on October 16th. The specs sheet has made its way online, however.
The Asus Padfone 2 handset will feature a 4.7-inch display with a 1280×720 pixel HD resolution. As with the original the handset will dock on the back of a larger tablet, with that also connecting to an external keyboard.
Under the bonnet you’ll find a Qualcomm S4 quad-core processor, coming in at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM.
The remaining specs leaked for the handset include full NFC connectivity, a 13-megapixel camera, and a 2140mAh battery powering the device.
No news as of yet on the specifications of the accompanying tablet.
The original Asus Padfone has yet to make its debut in the UK, but with Asus’ growing popularity with other tablets they’ve released here, mainly the Asus Transformer Prime, expect to see the Padfone 2 here at some point.
