Following on from its September 10th iPhone 5S launch, Apple will unveil a new iPad and iPad mini before the end of 2013.
Citing “a person familiar with the plans”, Bloomberg is reporting that the new 9.7-inch iPad will feature a redesign, giving it a look and feel akin to that of the current iPad mini. Meanwhile, the iPad mini itself will receive a Retina display upgrade, upping the low-resolution screen on the current model.
Bloomberg suggest that the iPad will undergo a complete redesign and the new model will feature a thinner bezel and casing, “that more closely resembles the iPad mini”. The report coincides with similar information reported by the WSJ, who suggest that the iPad will feature the same display technology that’s currently used in the iPad mini.
Updates to the iPad mini itself are said to include a, “high-resolution screen”, but no further information has been given in the report. Our guess is that it will be largely the same device, albeit with the new display and possibly an upgraded processor to help power it.
No set launch date has been given for the two tablet devices, with Bloomberg reporting that it will be sometime after the heavily-rumoured September 10th event that will see the unveiling of the iPhone 5S and possibly the iPhone 5C.
