App Review – Ocarina

Developer: SonicMule

Category: Music

Price: £0.59

When the App Store was announced we never thought we’d see a wind instrument appear on it, let alone one as cool as this. An ocarina is an ancient flute-like instrument that was invented 12,000 years ago, and now you can download it on your iPhone. It works in exactly the same way as it does in real-life – you blow into the blowhole, which is your iPhone’s mic, to create a sound and then use four buttons to control what would have been air holes on the original instrument. Once you’ve got your mind around that there is a website where you can get sheet music, and in the app itself you can view and listen to people playing the ocarina around the world. When we first downloaded this app, it blew our minds. Get it, get it now!
