App review: Galactic FX

GalacticFXDeveloper: WebArtisan
Category: Photography
Price: £0.59

If you need a rest from shooting the bad guys or trying to beat your high score then here’s an app that will help you chill out for a bit.  Boldly go and launch Galactic FX. You’ll find yourself floating in outer space, instantly soothed by delicate ambient chords. By tapping on the screen you can produce particles of plasma from your fingertips and watch them gently fade like falling stars. There are four different interstellar themes to explore.  (If you download the free version you get one theme).

This app’s sophisticated particle engine is fully editable. A range of menus let you alter the colour, speed and lifespan of the particles that you create. You can even change dynamic properties like gravity, or add a whirlpool force to stir things up.  Galactic FX lets you produce some beautiful animation.  It’s a shame you can’t save your creations as movies to share with others.
