Instagram’s latest spin-off app reminds us of Apple’s Live Photos, which shows a short video of the scene when tapped. Admittedly it is slightly different as Boomerang lets you shoot very short videos by taking a rapid burst of ten photos. To obtain effective results, just capture something moving. For instance, you could take a selfie whilst making a funny face or capture a pet moving its head. Just press the button to shoot, but try to keep the camera still to avoid any juddering. While the resulting looping videos are reminiscent of Vines, instead of jumping back to the start each time, they actually reverse playback to return to it, which can result in some amusing boomerang effects.
