Android improves tablet market share

Android tablets going from strength to strength. Read on to find out more.

Our favourite OS has come on leaps and bounds in the past year or so, with more Android phones being shipped and sold than ever before, it seems that their bigger counterparts are following suit.

The latest figures from Strategy Analytics suggest that Android accounted for 39% of the total tablet market in the last three months of 2011, a figure that is up by 10% if you compare it to last years figures.

Apple’s iOS still leads the way with 58% of the market share, a fall of 10%. Microsoft’s share stood at a lowly 1.5%

Although Android is still behind iOS, the signs are encouraging, and with 10.5 million Android tablets being shipped in the final few months of 2011, people are embracing our favourite OS more than ever.

We’ve seen a plethora of tablets hitting our shelves the past year, and it seems with the release of the Asus Transformer Prime, and several other tablets that are bound to be announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress, the trend looks likely to continue.
