Amazon Prime Instant Video app set for Android release

Amazon's movie streaming service is about to hit Android.

Formally known as LoveFilm, Prime Instant Video is Amazon’s attempt at cementing its place in your living room. Up until know, if you wanted to sign up to the service your choices were fairly limited, with Prime Instant Video only available for Kindle Fire devices, iPad and a select number of smart TVs.

Speaking to PC Advisor, Marketing Director at Amazon Instant Video, Russel Martin, has said an official Instant Video app is ‘immenent’. Despite strong competition from the likes of Netflix, the Android launch for Prime Instant Video would open it up to millions of potential new users.

There’s no concrete release date, or information on if we’ll see the app working on both smartphone and tablet, but we’ll update once we know more.
