Apple has posted some very interesting information on its iPad Battery Replacement Service, which allows users to receive a replacement battery for thier iPad should the device no longer hold a charge. The service will cost $99 plus a shipping charge.
The interesting part is that the “iPad Battery Replacement Service” is a bit misleading as instead of having the battery replaced the whole unit will be replaced. Users taking advantage of this service will therefore have to backup their iPads before sending and then reload their data onto a blank device.
This kind of service has been commonplace for iPods for some time but because they aren’t particularly expensive its not been considered remarkable. Apple’s decision to include the iPad in this care program will mean that heavy users who look after their devices will be able to get a new one for just $99 when the battery dies.
